Privacy and Policy

The law protects the relationship between a Client and Psychotherapist. The information shared within the therapeutic relationship cannot be disclosed without written permission of the client. However there are a few legal exceptions to client confidentiality.

These exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which Rorer Psychotherapy and Consulting Services is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a Client is threating serious bodily harm to another person/s, Rorer Psychotherapy and Consulting Services must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If a Client intends to harm himself or herself, Rorer Psychotherapy and Consulting Services will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If a Client does not wish to cooperate, Rorer Psychotherapy and Consulting Services will take further measures provided to us by law in order to ensure their safety.

Please be advised that Dr. Rorer does not see clients who are currently suicidal, homicidal, currently involved in an abusive relationship, or have court order involvement.
